Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently seeking Senior Piping Designers in anticipation of a project win in Russia to join our Mining & Minerals team in Oakville, Ontario who will apply extensive and comprehensive knowledge of piping design principles and practices to the organization's products and services.
The Designers will plan, schedule and assign / supervise or conduct broad and / or technically complex design assignments requiring judgment, independent evaluation, selection and significant adaptation and deviation from standard techniques and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Work independently and or Lead a team of mechanical and piping designers ensuring the production of mechanical and piping layouts using 2-D and 3-D tools for mining project
Design P&IDs in Microstation V8, AVEVA P&ID system and AutoCad.
Piping Layout and Design
Develop Piping Lists with Engineering
Locate all equipment and piping
Prepare and review drawings and designs to ensure standards of quality and accuracy are met including isometrics, piping details and GA drawings
Review and update P&IDs to match piping layout
Coordinate with all disciplines on P&ID requirements for assigned area
Coordinate with all disciplines on routing and space allotment
Coordinate with other offices / companies at interfaces between design areas
Review specifications and vendor documentation for associated equipment
Skills / Qualifications
Technical college graduate with North American experience in mining and mineral or similar industries
10-15 years' design experience, preferably in the consulting industry
5 years of experience as a lead designer (preference will be given to those candidate with experience in Mineral Mining projects)
Previous work experience in mining plant design
Proficiency in the use of 3-D modeling platforms.
Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal and motivational skills to work well within a team environment
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to development relationships and conduct presentations internally and externally.
Candidate must demonstrate strong technical skills and apply them effectively
Relevant experience with P&ID design and drafting
Proficiency in the use of intelligent P&ID platforms.
Experience with 3D Design tools such as Microstation V8, E3D, Navisworks, Smart Plant Reviewer, Laser scan tools, Quanta point, Leica Geosystems TruVie
Familiar with Russian Engineering Design Codes will be an asset
This position does not have relocation assistance or living allowances attached to it. You must live within reasonable commuting distance or be willing to work in Oakville at your own expense
Authorization to work lawfully in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
