Position Summary

The Clinical Genomics Genetic Counsellor works as a member of the laboratory team, providing information and technical support to clients (including : physicians, nurses, genetic counsellors, patients, laboratory staff, and government agencies).

The lab-based genetic counsellor coordinates and tracks specimens, reports and results, acts as a client liaison and serves as an educator and resource for in-house staff, clients, other health professionals and the general public.

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday, 7.5 hour shifts

Qualifications

  • Master of Science or Master of Arts in Genetic Counselling.
  • Certification (or eligible for certification) by the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CAGC), Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (CCMG) and / or the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABGC) required.
  • Experience working in a similar position preferred.
  • Must be highly motivated.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team required.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset : French preferred.
