What You Will Do

As the Engineering Operations Co-Op, your role will be to learn various functions in the engineering operations team. These will range from activities related to monitoring the health of the grid and the bots, to providing first response to engineering fault conditions, both reactive and planned maintenance activities within our state of the art, automated Customer Fulfilment Center (CFC).

Day-to-day responsibilities for this role may include :

  • Assist in the investigation of any stoppage on the grid which pauses the Operation and see through to resolution, including escalating to off-site support and remotely connecting to the Robots.
  • Monitor Robot performance and appropriately escalate problems to Engineering Operations for inspection.
  • Monitor the status of both the Robots and the physical grid investigating locked grid cells, charging ports and general Robot health.
  • Communicate across multiple departments to ensure the right equipment is being used to maximize operational efficiency, and assist with the planning.
  • Assist in the coordination of Robot software rollouts to keep the most up to date software running across the Robot fleet.
  • Carry out planned maintenance across the site in an accurate, timely and safe manner
  • Update records of work activities, tasks carried out, parts used through stores and training given
  • Perform assembly and sub-assembly repairs by following written work instructions, blue prints and schematics
  • Respond to and diagnose equipment breakdowns, resolving issues and action repairs
  • Perform daily housekeeping and cleaning duties of equipment
  • Collect and analyze data to assist in finding solutions to improve MHE performance, providing reports where necessary
  • Complete quality inspections to ensure work is completed to a safe standard

    Who You Are

    To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements :

  • Possess excellent computer skills and be PC literate.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage to tight deadlines.
  • Analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with basic coding language will be a strong asset.
  • Be able to work with log files and extract relevant log lines through the application of commands used for file manipulation
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering or relevant field, or technical trade school, or advanced training in maintenance is required
  • Demonstrable analytical skills with sound problem solving ability
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to impart knowledge effectively to others
  • Good organization skills, able to prioritize
  • This role involves working at height using a variety of access equipment, so you need to be comfortable working at heights
  • Flexible to working a shift based pattern including nights and weekends
  • This role will require flexibility due to us being a 24 / 7 operation and a shift pattern will be put in place that will require working days, nights and weekends.
