In this role, you will be responsible for developing business cases for our next-generation technology and products & services and have the opportunity to lead transformative strategic initiatives.

The Technology Strategy & Business Transformation (TSBT) team is developing the network and technology solutions to enable our corporate strategic intent to unleash the power of the Internet to deliver the best solutions to Canadians at home, in the workplace and on the move.

In this role, you will be responsible for building business cases for some of our most important initiatives. You’ll work with stakeholders within TSBT and across the TELUS organization to clearly define the scope for initiatives, assess costs, estimate benefits, confirm timelines, and prepare the documents required to secure executive alignment and the funding required to move projects forward.

You will play a vital role in ensuring that TELUS is investing our resources on those initiatives that provide the best financial returns and are most vital for accomplishing our strategic objectives.

Along the way, you will also serve as a business case subject matter expert for TSBT to provide assistance where needed, define business case best practices, and build a repository of reference documents to help us advance business case capabilities among our TSBT leader community.

You will be a member of the Strategic Initiatives team within TSBT, a multi-functional and experienced team that is executing successfully against various business objectives, and we will look to you to work closely with senior leaders across the organization to drive key transformational and innovation initiatives.

You will be part of a small team with a big scope, responsible for strategic planning and reporting, business enablement, marketing, scorecard tracking, resource management, leadership development, and engagement initiatives.

In addition to your primary role leading business case development, you will conduct financial analyses, assist with organizational design, and promote TSBT leadership development.

We are looking for a highly-motivated, self-starter to join our team. You must be adept at communicating with executives, working both independently and with large groups of stakeholders, overcoming organizational obstacles, conducting and interpreting financial analysis, developing first-

rate decks, and presenting results. You will need to be both a whiz with data analysis and be able to craft a compelling story.

  • Qualifications

    You're the missing piece of the puzzle

  • Broad and deep understanding of the strategic and financial concepts required to build successful business cases
  • Familiarity with next-generation telecommunications network technologies, architectures, and business models
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex technical concepts into business terms and recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with expertise in preparing and delivering presentation decks for executive-level audiences
  • Expertise in data analysis, building and interpreting complex datasets
  • Proven leadership skills, with an ability to work with all levels of the leadership team including executives, technical architects, finance comptrollers, and stakeholders from our business teams
  • Ability to effectively engage stakeholders to establish cross-functional alignment for projects and initiatives
  • Proven aptitude in managing high volume workloads while paying close attention to details
  • Ability to learn quickly from success or failure, apply sound judgement, and exercise leadership in times of change and ambiguity
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record in leading and delivering complex projects
  • Expertise in cost-benefit analysis, financial modeling, and complex data analysis
  • Expert-level knowledge of MS Office and Google G-Suite tools
  • Great-to-haves

  • 5+ years’ experience in financial analysis and reporting
  • 5+ years’ experience in project management
  • University degree in business or engineering; MBA preferred
  • Background in telecommunications and / or consulting
  • Bilingual in English & French a plus
