On May 16, 2019, Governor Kate Brown signed House Bill 3427 into law.

The legislation established a "Fund for Student Success" that is separate and distinct from the state's general fund. It also adopted a new Corporate Activity Tax (CAT) imposed on all types of business entities.

Revenue from the CAT will be transferred to the Fund for Student Success and will be used for education spending.

The Department of Revenue is recruiting for one Office Specialist 2 position to support this exciting new tax program! We are looking for an organized individual who is detail oriented to join our Corporate Activity Tax Section.

This position will be located in our Salem office.

This is a full-time , SEIU represented position. This recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies as they occur.

  • What You Will Be Doing

    Below is a sampling of job duties. It is not meant to encompass all duties.

  • Responsible for processing suspense correspondence received through fax, paper, e-mail, or Revenue Online. Researches using online tools (GenTax) to correctly determine the destination of the correspondence
  • Uses scanner to image correspondence and attach to taxpayer accounts in various areas within the taxpayer account
  • Responsible for creating appeal cases received by the department in paper form, digital fax, e-mail, or through Revenue Online.
  • Triage and sort the CAT email box for the Administrative Specialists and Tax Auditors

  • Occasionally requires lifting of boxes of tax returns weighing from 30 to 50 pounds or tax return folders weighing 5 to 10 pounds
  • This Is What You Need To Qualify

    Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR

    an Associate's degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.

    College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
