We are currently recruiting for a Data Architect to join our growing Analytics & Audience Intelligence team in Toronto. Media Analytics is at the foundation of all decision-making at Initiative and you’ll create and advise on data monitoring models and data collection methods in order to have usable data to drive real business outcomes.

The successful candidate thrives in pursuing unchartered analysis territories and is motivated by using their highly technical knowledge to manage large and complex data sets, develop database solutions and advise on data visualization techniques.
Position Summary :
The role of a Data Architect is to collaborate and work with our cross-functional teams and with our client’s in-house data management teams to identify and develop solutions on how to best collect, transform and organize data in order for analysis to be performed.
Technical expertise will enable the use of technology, media science and market data to drive competitive advantage, inspire new measurement practice and demonstrate positive ROI.
Reporting to the Group Director, lead and manage requests relating to Data Analytics, Integrations & Visualization PoCs and coordinate with necessary team members and departments across the agency
Design and develop the blueprint for organizational data management and analysis enablement initiatives for the assigned accounts
Understand, define and structure how data relates to account / business operations and develop data modelling standards and document process and logic
Determines database structural requirements and provides data collection and connection solutions by analyzing client & internal operations, client business goals, and campaign programming principles
A subject matter expert who is collaborative and can work closely with team members at different levels of data experience
Lead and participate in discussions around solution designs (new / changed), help influence the direction on the data architecture strategy and enhance dashboard delivery
Identify and codify a data ingestion, collection & storage process and prepare data in a framework that can be utilized by analysts, audience & platform strategists and digital solutions architect
Provide guidance and support in handling disparate data sources from varied databases and build an inventory of data needed to implement an architecture
Map data sources and systems to data models for data integration & implementation
Conduct data audits, cleansing and de-duplication
Act as a key resource in providing access to critical information in the right place at the right time, implementing process and measures in ensuring data accuracy and accessibility
Regularly evaluate data systems and acts the subject matter expert in designing a plan to integrate, centralize, protect and maintain data sets
Consult on data management technologies, data management platforms (DMP), data modelling standards and proactively identify opportunities for automation
Assist GAD in the development of project SOWs and creation of client data roadmaps
Post-secondary education University graduate with a degree in any of the following fields, Engineering, Applied Math, Statistics, Information Technology or Computer Science
Hands on experience with working on complex data projects including migrations, integrations, data architecture and data governance
Deep database and data analysis expertise with an ability to approach high-level data challenges and able to identify data sources that support data model design
Proven understanding of taxonomies and ontologies, as well as the challenges of applying structured techniques (data modeling) to less structured sources
Previous experience in architecting solutions and successfully delivering technical project in advertising / marketing related areas
Extensive experience in data integration with upstream and downstream systems and channels, including various real-time and batch integration technologies, design and implementation
Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills to facilitate meetings and able to communicate complex concepts to non-technical people, including thorough understanding of what may drive business priorities, strategy and direction, and what may drive client’s business needs
Understanding of digital tagging & QA process
Proficiency in Project Management
Proactive approach to problem solving, supporting the team and self-development
Strong learning agility, with a passion for continuous development
Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
Highly developed organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy

Technical & Systems Background :
Hands-on experience with data integration tools RDMS (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle) and BI Tools (Tableau)
Familiarity and previous exposure to media finance systems : DDS and Prisma
Knowledgeable on all digital media platforms and their API’s (DV360, FB, Google Ads, Amazon DSP etc.)
Analytically minded with working knowledge of data outputs from analytics and reporting systems (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics etc.)
Experience with cloud-based tools and services supporting big data (AWS, GCP), Professional Cloud Certification an asset
Working knowledge of multiple DMPs (Adobe, Salesforce, Krux etc.), DMP platform accreditation an asset
Experience with or Knowledge of NoSQL-based database management systems such as MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, or ElasticSearch
Knowledge and experience working with coding languages : Phython, R
