The successful candidate will be responsible for general Canadian tax advisory services to the Loblaw group of companies and will work with internal partners at Loblaw and its affiliated businesses including Shoppers Drug Mart, PC Financial and Joe Fresh and fellow tax professionals at George Weston in carrying out those responsibilities.

Responsibilities : Conduct tax research, summarize and communicate findings on various matters raised by the Loblaw business units Monitor the organizational structure to identify tax planning and legal entity reduction opportunities.
Compute and monitor various tax balances and attributes, including but not limited to adjusted cost base, paid up capital and safe income Coordinate legal entity intercompany transactions with Finance, Legal, Treasury and other departments as appropriate (e.
g. payment of intercorporate dividends) Participate in strategic initiatives such as acquisitions, divestitures and corporate reorganizations Keep abreast of legislative and administrative changes and recommend and assist in the implementation of necessary changes Other special projects and assignments as required that may include providing analysis to management on identified issues or assisting with presentations to the business or tax team Qualifications : CPA designated with 3-6 years of tax advisory experience in general Canadian tax matters Completion of Level 1 and 2 of the In-depth Tax Course Completion of the In-depth Corporate Reorganizations course would be an asset Experience with tax research databases as well as Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint Experience in a Canadian industry corporate tax environment would be an asset Organized, detailed oriented individual with proven analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to handle multiple priorities and pursue projects to completion Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to liaise with various levels of management Ability to work collaboratively with peers and colleagues to deliver results
