The responsibility of the Manager, Regional Transportation Ontario is to lead the regional operations transportation day to day operations in balancing its objective of driving cost-

to-serve efficiencies, while meeting regulatory compliance requirements and customer experience expectations. As a member of the Regional Transportation leadership team, he / she will contribute in defining regional delivery network and carrier strategies and best-

in-class processes in the areas of operational performance and regulatory compliance. He / she is required to engage with multiple key internal stakeholders such as Distribution Operations, Customer Service, Regulatory / Quality, Human Resources, Legal and Finance, both as well as external carrier partners.

Job Description

  • Auditing carrier costs and billing with third party freight audit partner.
  • Interprets laws, rules and regulations regarding transportation and ensures compliance to such regulations in the region.
  • Oversees maintenance and accuracy of information on routes, rates and services within TMS.

  • Oversees planning and coordination of day to day Delivery operations within TMS.
  • Manage execution of contracts with third-party carriers. Measure carrier performance by performing regular carrier audits to ensure providers meet McKesson Canada goals and objectives with respect to transportation activity.
  • Engages with multiple key internal stakeholders such as Distribution Operations, Customer Service, Regulatory / Quality, Human Resources, Legal and Finance, at a regional level.
  • Manages regional day to day transportation activities through specialists- individual contributors.
  • Assist with the development of Regional Transportation department strategies, objectives and performance standards / metrics-
  • accountable to implement and deploy in the region.

  • Support regional initiatives to drive financial performance by ensuring financial targets are met and identifies opportunities to drive cost-to-serve efficiencies.
  • Ensures regional and / or national transportation related initiatives are delivered as per plan within the region.
  • Accountable to meet customers delivery expectations.
  • Directly manages a team of individual contributors. Accountable for the engagement level of all employees within span of control, including associates.
  • Fosters a cohesive team unit and manages talent pipeline to enable organizational capabilities.

  • Acts as the escalation point for regional day to day operational decisions that will impact unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities and or performance.
  • Frequently interacts with direct reports, customers, carrier partners, managers and / or peer group managers. Interacts with senior management on matters specific to scope of responsibility.
  • Communicates organizational and functional strategy and translates it into functional goals for regional team.
  • Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management (operations, logistics, supply chain) or Engineering (industrial) or related field is required.
  • Certification designation (CITT) is desirable.
  • 5-7 years of progressive responsibilities in the areas of transportation, logistics or distribution, 1-3 years in a management role.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical distribution industry or related regulated distribution industries and / or large scale national distributor / last mile transportation operations an asset.
  • Leadership demonstrated ability to lead teams in a context of change and quickly establish credibility across the organization.
  • People Management demonstrated ability to mobilize, coach and drive accountability with specialist and individual contributors.
  • Technology & Systems demonstrated ability to operate and leverage technology solutions such as Transportation Management System (TMS).
  • Operational performance Demonstrated ability to manage day to day operations to drive total cost-to-serve and network performance through operational KPI’s.
  • Communication demonstrated ability to proactively communicate operational updates with all levels of the organization and across functions.
  • Contract management demonstrated ability in executing transportation service contracts and manage core and basic supplier relationships with regional partners.
  • Written and oral fluency in English
  • Availability to travel within the region (up to 20%) is required.

    En tant que membre de l'équipe de direction du transport régional, il / elle contribuera à définir les stratégies de réseau de livraison régional et de transporteur ainsi que les meilleurs processus dans les domaines de la performance opérationnelle et de la conformité réglementaire.

    Il / elle sera appelé(e) à interagir constamment avec des parties prenantes externes et internes clés telles que les opérations de distribution, le service client, la réglementation / la qualité, les ressources humaines, les affaires juridiques et financières, ainsi que des partenaires fournisseurs externes.

    Qualifications professionnelles

  • Baccalauréat en administration des affaires (opérations, logistique, chaîne d’approvisionnement), en génie (industriel) ou dans un domaine connexe OU expérience de travail pertinente équivalente.
  • La certification CITT est souhaitable.
  • 5 à 7 ans de responsabilités progressives dans les domaines du transport, de la logistique ou de la distribution, 1 à 3 ans dans un rôle de gestion d'employés.
  • Expérience dans le secteur de la distribution de produits pharmaceutiques ou dans des secteurs de distribution réglementés apparentés et / ou dans des opérations de transporteur national à grande échelle, un atout.
  • Leadership - aptitude démontrée à diriger des équipes dans un contexte de changement et à établir rapidement une crédibilité dans l'ensemble de l'organisation.
  • Gestion des personnes - aptitude démontrée à mobiliser, encadrer et responsabiliser des contributeurs spécialisés et individuels.
  • Technologie et systèmes - aptitude démontrée à exploiter et à exploiter des solutions technologiques telles que le système de gestion du transport (TMS).
  • Performance opérationnelle - Aptitude confirmée à gérer les opérations quotidiennes pour optimiser le coût total de service et la performance du réseau au moyen de KPI opérationnels.
  • Communication - aptitude démontrée à communiquer de manière proactive les mises à jour opérationnelles à tous les niveaux de l'organisation et entre les fonctions.
  • Gestion des contrats - aptitude démontrée à exécuter des contrats de services de transport et à gérer les relations fondamentales des fournisseurs avec des partenaires régionaux.
  • Maîtrise de l'anglais écrit et oral
  • La disponibilité pour voyager dans la région (jusqu'à 20%) est requise.
