We are looking for a Principal PM (Product Management) Manager to join our team and lead the ideation, planning, and execution of these critically important systems and tools.

Working with all disciplines (engineering, data science, design, commercialization, marketing, and more) this leader will work across Microsoft to assemble the optimal product road map and go to market plan.

You will lead the product team directly, setting process, direction, and vision to accomplish meaningful outcomes we are committed to making the online world a safer, more welcoming place for everyone.


As the Principal PM Manager, reporting directly to the General Manager, Two Hat, you will drive

Team and Functional Leadership, Development, and Organization

  • Build, develop and lead a team of Product Management professionals in the development of a resource maximizing road map that delivers the most meaningful outcomes for our customers
  • Use both direct and influential leadership across Microsoft to assemble the right technologies, services, and teams to create our products and services
  • Establish and operate a product development process that continually adapts to new inputs, ideas, and technologies with a balance of both analytical rigor and creative inspiration
  • Analysis of Customer and Market Signals

  • Guide teams, through customer empathy and understanding, in identifying customers’ unmet or unknown needs and market opportunities using quantitative and qualitative analysis, inclusive of deep and direct customer feedback
  • Use market and user research, competitive analyses, market, and industry trends, as well as industry specific requirements and regulations to determine a holistic view of customer needs.
  • Develop communications that inform and inspire senior stakeholders and execution teams to understand and have passion for solving the identified needs.
  • Product and Service Definition

  • Based on insights and requirements, develop, and communicate a thoughtful and inspiring product vision that gives the execution team direction in creating a prioritized road map for exceeding customer needs.
  • Lead the Product team in writing the product framing memos, strategy documents, and product specifications necessary to capture and distill the vision and strategy into an executable product roadmap.
  • With the Product team, develop a deep understanding of the Two Hat, Azure, other Microsoft, and third-party technologies and product architectures to design integrated solutions.
  • Product and Service Development

  • Execute the prioritized road map working cross-functionally with the Production, Engineering, Design, Language and Culture and Customer Support teams, in addition to expert teams throughout Xbox and Microsoft
  • Ensure the Product team anticipates, reviews, and helps resolve interoperability challenges between different components and layers in the solution stack.
  • Drive product execution that is inclusive of both systems and tools that collectively create a suite of community practices while technically sophisticated and nuanced, packaging these elements into a beautiful and easy to adopt and use form factor.
  • Go To Market

  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Business Planning, and Customer Support to identify product release criteria, customer acquisition, usage, retention, and monetization strategies.
  • Assist Product Marketing teams in building marketing and roll-out plans and / or content such as product overviews, blogs, and landing pages for individual features including in product communications.
  • Lead team in evangelizing the feature areas they work on with internal and external stakeholders, partners, analysts, and customers in the industry via presentations, blog posts, social media, and other forums inclusive of feature previews and forward roadmaps with customers.
  • Product and Service Performance

  • Measure and report results of feature and service delivery through collecting performance metrics, monitoring, and reporting on progress, and creating insights for future development based on actual outcomes.
  • Set high expectations on performance, efficacy, and usability of all product elements; instigate a rigorous and disciplined approach to continuous improvement across the product and service stack.
  • Qualifications

    Required Minimum Qualifications :

  • 10+ years’ experience in product / service / project / program management or software development
  • 6+ years’ experience leading a team
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong Communication Skill - both internal and external audience
  • Community based Games and / or large Community / Social Product Experience
