Kleinschmidt has an immediate opening for a Construction Quality Assurance Technician (CQAT), working from our office in Peterborough, Ontario.

This position is primarily a field position as a quality assurance representative. The CQAT will provide quality planning, oversight, reporting, documentation management and coordination of quality control activities for projects at hydroelectric generating stations primarily in Ontario but may be assigned to projects in other locations within Canada or the United States.

Between field assignments the CQAT will participate in construction quality planning, and mechanical engineering related assignments under the direction of a Kleinschmidt Mechanical Engineer and / or Project Manager.

Initially the CQAT will be assigned to a 4-year hydroelectric unit overhaul on a project near North Bay, ON with the potential to lead to a second 4-year term.

Qualifications :

  • Graduate of an accredited Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology program and eligible for a Professional Engineer (P.
  • Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technician (CET) certification.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a field construction support role on hydroelectric maintenance or construction projects.
  • Experience providing site quality assurance services and managing site quality documentation strongly preferred.
  • Experience with hydroelectric machinery operations, overhaul and repair strongly preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors, suppliers and co-workers in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Productive working in a computerized environment with the ability to adapt to various computer-based workflow programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the MS Office program platform.
  • Willing to travel and work in the fieldWilling to work in a centrally located office between field work assignments.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must possess permanent authorization to work in Canada.
