Roberto Botelho. Specifically, the PDF will work on a project aimed at better understanding how macrophages and / or dendritic cells adapt their lysosomal system in response to infection signals and the functional outcomes for resolving infections, antigen presentation, and immunity.

This research will be conducted using both murine mouse models and primary cell cultures and employ a variety of genetics, cell biology, and biochemical tools that includes transcriptome and translatome analyses, antigen presentation assays, and fluorescence microscopy.

Position responsibilities

In addition to conducting the above research, the PDF will be expected to take a leadership role in the lab, seek external funding opportunities to support his / her research, mentor junior members of the lab, and communicate his / her research findings through presentations at scientific conferences and publication in internationally-recognized journals.

Position requirements

Candidates should have a doctorate degree or expected to successfully defend their Ph.D. in the summer of 2019 in cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, immunology, or in another related field.

Preference will be given to candidates that have acquired their Ph.D. in the last five years. Successful candidates will have strong expertise in at least some of the following approaches : fluorescence microscopy and image analysis, flow cytometry, molecular biology, work with mice, mammalian cell culture, systems biology, and immunology assays, among other relevant methods.
