    We are seeking motivated leaders to work with us to develop and implement innovative approaches to ensuring that Canada's ecosystems and species are protected.

    These leaders will develop, use, and share knowledge and advice for conservation to enable ecosystems within protected areas to thrive in the face of environmental factors and climate change.

    They will guide Parks Canada staff and collaborate with academics, other government scientists, Indigenous peoples and other partners.

    Intent of the process

    The intent of the process is to fill 1 indeterminate position and 1 term position.

    This process may be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, work locations, security levels or linguistic requirements.

    In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)


    Graduation with a master’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in biology, natural resource management, earth sciences, environmental sciences or a related scientific field relevant to the position.


  • Significant* experience in providing strategic, science-based advice and recommendations to inform evidence-based policy or program decisions;
  • Significant* experience in assessing, synthesizing and analyzing science-based information from a variety of sources to inform policy or program development;
  • Experience in leading scientific projects from design to implementation in natural resource management or environmental issues (e.

  • g. climate change, sustainable development, etc.);
  • Experience in planning and coordinating multiple activities or projects within a scientific, technical or operational program;
  • Experience working on projects with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and partners.

  • Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience that would normally be gained over a period of at least five (5) years.

    Additional Qualifications :


    Graduation with a doctorate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in biology, natural resource management, earth sciences, environmental sciences or a related scientific field relevant to the position.


  • Experience in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with Indigenous groups or other partners and stakeholders;
  • Experience in working on or representing your organization at governmental or international initiatives or committees;
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies, regulations, programs, or strategies related to the conservation of natural resources;
  • Experience managing staff, programs, or finances.

    Knowledge of current issues and emerging trends related to environmental and conservation issues in Canada and internationally.
