In this role, the Technical leader will take ownership of the Test Software development activities. Test software includes executable programs and automation to run several functional tests within the Wescam factory or at supplier facilities.

This position bridges leadership and technical responsibilities; where the successful candidate needs to be able to work well with the management team and the Test Engineering team members.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in determining, estimating, assigning and managing project tasks with team members.
  • Explore new technology trends that may impact the present & future of Test and automation.
  • Work with the management team to choose the proper skillset for a given project.
  • Flow down tasks and assignments to allocated team members and manage the activities to completion.
  • Support the management team in the performance assessment of personnel during yearly reviews.
  • Schedule and actively participate in technical design reviews to ensure excellence and design integrity.
  • Provide technical guidance to other team members and mentorship to new hires and junior Test Engineers.
  • Provide guidance to the team on best practices regarding code maintenance, source code management and relevant / refreshed coding standards.
  • Actively explore methods to achieve greater and more optimal functional test coverage.
  • Provide technical support and input to the strategic planning processes; and seek efficiency and test improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining the related Test engineering design practices, processes and standards.
  • Provide the required metrics, reports and performance measures to the management team.
  • Provide technical support to other areas of the organization including all Operations engineering disciplines, Customer Service Groups, In-Country Assembly, Supply Chain and Design Engineering.
  • Develop a strong presence across operations engineering and other areas of the business to maximize collaboration and synergy in an effort to meet project goals.
  • Collaborate closely with the SW Design Engineering team along with other disciplines to leverage best practices for software development.
  • Complete other tasks and projects as assigned by the management team.
