Kensington-Bellwoods Community Legal Services
Kensington-Bellwoods Community Legal Services (KBCLS) is seeking a board member with a Human Resource background to join its Board of Directors.
KBCLS is a not-for-profit community legal clinic, funded by Legal Aid Ontario. We provide free legal services to low-income residents of our community.
Legal services include providing summary advice, representation and assistance, as well as referrals on non-legal matters of concern to clients.
Areas of law practiced by staff lawyers and legal workers include income maintenance, tenants’ rights, employment standards, human rights and immigration.
We are also engaged in a range of public legal education, law reform, and community development activities which include community outreach and community organizing.
The Board of Directors oversees the work of the clinic, which is carried out by paid unionized staff, and volunteers.
Goals that include working towards the elimination of poverty in our society, and increasing access to justice.
