Responsibilities

  • Oversee all land development engineering review of utility and environmental aspects of proposals submitted by developers and in-house departments
  • Provide departmental responses recommending improvements and requesting changes
  • Work with and negotiate solutions with developers, their consultants and other stakeholders to ensure that project designs implemented follow Strathcona County standards and engineering best practices
  • Coordinate designs with development engineering field staff to ensure that infrastructure construction and practices comply with Strathcona County standards
  • Provide review and input for consideration of Construction Completion and Final Acceptance Certificates for land development related construction
  • Facilitate land development technical review that seeks optimal customer service outcomes while staying current with industry innovations, technology and provincial regulations
  • Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with the ability to provide innovative and feasible solutions based on engineering judgment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage timelines / deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
  • Strong political acumen along with the ability to navigate negotiations with partners and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated strong leadership abilities and a high degree of flexibility and adaptability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software programs
  • Qualifications Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of related experience Previous experience in land development processes with extensive knowledge in water and wastewater utility servicing and stormwater management analysis and design Proven experience interpreting and reviewing detailed engineering drawings and reports Knowledge of Design and Construction Standards would be an asset Knowledge of Municipal Government Act, Municipal Development Plan, Area Structure Plans, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, Public Lands Act, Water Act etc.
