The IT Technician / Technical Analyst receives direction from the Senior Technical Analyst to proactively head off customer’s technical issues by applying technical expertise to resolve the customer’s IT support request(s).
Provide technical support to end users of the current systems.
Respond to calls on the support line
Troubleshoot end user problems (hardware and company standard software)
Perform upgrades, installations, preventive maintenance tasks
Repair computer software and / or hardware and work with external vendors to obtain repairs when necessary.
Set-up / deliver PC equipment, dispose of excess surplus equipment.
Track work performed in problem management system, prepare progress reports, administer and maintain corporate workstation assets.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the company’s computer systems.
Manage multiple resources, task breakdown, and delegation and set milestones.
Estimate / manage / complete a series of tasks required for a simple project.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
Strong team building and relationship skills.
Excellent customer service approach.
Ability to lean and understand new systems quickly.
Strong organizational skills with close attention to detail.
Knowledge of the FortisBC organizational structure. Knowledge and Experience Requirements
2 year Diploma in Computer or Electronics Technology
Related work experience.
Progression from JG 8 to JG 12 will include good to extensive understanding and experience in :
Operating systems and system commands applicable to the job.
Working knowledge of the server environment.
Maintaining business contacts with suppliers, service reps and other businesses.
Windows Server based network environment including user maintenance, scheduling, printer configuration, remote connectivity, etc.
Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office 2007 Professional application, Microsoft Project, Visio and Adobe PageMaker.
All PC peripherals including printers, scanners, plotters, cameras and any devices that may be attached to a PC.
