VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION SPECIALIST - Prince George - Northern BC

About You :

As an experienced Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist engaged in your profession, you enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues, employers and clients to deliver great vocational services.

You are an effective communicator during in person meetings and can author clear, concise and timely reporting. You possess excellent assessment and treatment skills, and appreciate collaborating with other health professionals to develop and implement treatment plans with a return to function focus.

You embrace the challenge of providing excellent access so that our clients can return to their pre-injury status as quickly as possible.

In addition to having experience in BC, you value learning and improvement and have a passion to provide clients with quality service to facilitate their rehabilitation needs.

About the Role :

Working in a multi-disciplinary setting and within Edmonton and surrounding area, you would perform assessment to identify vocational, psychosocial, physical and / or mental health barriers to return to work and potential rehabilitation services that may assist in safe and expedited return to work.

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle.

Skills :

  • Experience required in working with clients with adult onset disabilities and familiarity with the impact medical restrictions have on clients’ abilities to seek and secure work
  • Experience conducting Transferable Skills Analyses, performing labour market research and job search services is essential, within budget and timeline expectations
  • Clinical experience in offering proactive, cost effective rehabilitation plans is an asset
  • Experience utilizing interest inventories and other assessment tools is an asset
  • Excellent ability to follow through on and monitor plans; being organized
  • Commitment to ongoing and timely communication with all stakeholders
  • Superior writing abilities and organization to keep reporting current
  • Demonstrated ability to easily establish rapport with clients is a must.
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Master’s degree in related discipline to providing client services to people with disabilities
  • Familiarity with current methods of vocational rehabilitation, career counseling including assessment, service planning, job search skills, job analysis and job placement
  • Working towards or holding a relevant professional certification (i.e. Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP), or equivalent RCCS, RVP) and / or Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP)
  • Experience in assessing complex client needs in specialized areas such as physical limitations, cognitive, social and emotional barriers
  • Interpreting clinical assessments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills to building and maintain relationships with clients, funders, and employers
  • Exceptional time management, organization and teamwork skills
  • Strong ability to document, maintain records and write professional reports
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (travel required between work sites)
