Reporting to the Manager, Lender Relations, the (Senior) Accountant, Reporting is part of a collaborative team of accounting professionals working closely together in the preparation and presentation of financial information for Brookfield Renewable’s subsidiary entities.

The (Senior) Accountant, Reporting participates in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements in accordance with IFRS and U.

S. GAAP for statutory, partner and lender reporting purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements under IFRS and U.S. GAAP for statutory and lender reporting purposes;
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, notes and other support, and assist external auditors during audits;
  • Prepare or analyze Brookfield Renewable’s subsidiary financial statements and operating reports for accuracy and completeness before submission to lenders and partners;
  • Monitor ongoing compliance under Brookfield Renewable’s debt agreements and proactively highlight potential gaps versus obligations;
  • Build and maintain working relationships with lenders and provide first-line of response on issues;
  • Participate in the drafting of new loan documentation to ensure future compliance;
  • Work on ad-hoc projects such as enhancing compliance control environment.
  • Prepare annual pension statutory financial statements;
  • Prepare information for lenders including debt service coverage ratios, certificates, cash flow forecast ratios, variance analysis, and distribution tests, and assist in responding to queries from our lenders;
  • Prepare regulatory compliance forms for governmental entities;
  • Provide ad hoc support to other groups within Brookfield Renewable;
  • Assist in implementing new accounting standards;
  • Integrate new reporting requirements into Certent Cognos Disclosure Management (CDM); and
  • Ensure that appropriate and adequate internal controls over financial reporting are in place and operating efficiently and effectively.
  • Requirements

  • Two (2) or more years of relevant experience;
  • Experience working with large, multi-national corporations with numerous and varying reporting requirements will be considered an asset.
  • Experience working with debt agreements will be considered an asset;
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS and U.S. GAAP;
  • Solid analytical abilities, combined with being highly detail oriented;
  • Experience in working in a growing organization with changing needs and multiple complex business transactions that have an impact on the financial reporting of the business;
  • Ability to work confidently in a dynamic, complex environment, fast-paced environment and to be flexible in adapting to change and changing priorities;
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) in English;
  • Excellent team player;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and use sound judgment; and
  • Knowledge and practical experience with IBM Cognos FSR or CDM is considered to be a very strong asset.
  • Qualifications

  • Two (2) or more years of relevant experience;
  • Experience working with large, multi-national corporations with numerous and varying reporting requirements will be considered an asset; and
  • Hold or in the process of completing a recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA; CMA; CGA; CPA (U.S.)).
