Steel River Solutions is seeking a Construction Project Coordinator Summer Student for an opportunity in Sherwood Park, AB.
This role will help you acquire project coordinator skills in a fast-paced environment with a company that is in aggressive growth mode and is actively socially responsible.
Your insightful contributions will help develop, organize, and execute construction projects.
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Job grant program. This position will be for an 8-week duration working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
The eligibility criteria are as follows :
Student must be legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislations and regulations
Student must be between 18 and 30 years of age
Job Requirements :
Provide support to Project Managers in planning, coordinating, scheduling, and assisting with project estimating, planning and execution tasks.
Work effectively and competently with people at all levels in the organization
Perform general administrative and record keeping functions including the review and distribution of documentation; preparation of correspondence and meeting minutes, tracking of project milestones, maintenance of files, logs, drawings, and specifications
Support the (sub) contract management process : tender and award work or material supply; review and process invoices and progress claims, and assistance with the review of documents and inquiries
Assist with preparing progress invoicing and progress status reports
Ensure that all technical aspects of the work conform to all applicable codes and standards
Facilitate the tracking of project milestones and financial deadlines; assistance with the creation of the project schedule;
inputs and updates schedule throughout the project and reviews with Project Manager
Coordinate the request for information (RFI) process, ensures RFIs are distributed to affected trades and maintains RFI logs and binders
Prepare purchase requisitions for approval and assists with procurement of materials and equipment
Identify critical path and keep abreast of manpower loading and materials deliveries
Ensure that all work is completed accurately (i.e. survey)
Other duties and tasks as assigned
Strong computer background including experience with MS Word and Excel. Ability to utilize Scheduling software is an asset
Strong communication skills, confident interacting with key contacts in verbal, written and electronic form
Capable of probing and listening carefully, presents information clearly in an appropriate style and persuades others in straightforward situations
Willingness to contribute actively in team activities, sharing experiences and ideas
Ability to work to deadlines and see tasks through to completion
Proven track record of project coordination and team collaboration
