We are currently seeking a :

Healthy Workplace Coordinator - Human Resources

Permanent Full-time

As an integral member of the Human Resources department, the Healthy Workplace Coordinator employs the principles of disability management to all current cases of occupational and non-occupational illnesses or injuries.

The primary focus is to work closely with the staff and their supervisors to ensure a progressive and comprehensive return to work program which results in effective early intervention and timely management of cases and safe, effective return-to-work strategies.

This role is also responsible for administration of the employee attendance management and related activities. The Healthy Workplace Coordinator will also engage with Health and Safety projects on an as needed basis.

  • Key functions of this role include but not limited to;
  • Proactively manage and administer disability claims. Monitor length of sick leave entitlements, gap periods, and eligibility dates.
  • Review job demands / accommodation requests and identify suitable work while adhering to the essential duties.
  • Provide accurate and timely information regarding claims to Supervisors / Managers, Insurers, and other internal Stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidentiality, accuracy and integrity in the collection, processing, and maintenance of claims information in accordance with legislation and company policies.
  • Key Skills, Experience and Behaviors required for this position :

  • College or University degree in a health- related field e.g., Disability Management Specialist (CDMP), Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC), would be considered an asset.
  • 1 to 3 years experience with disability management principles such as workplace accommodation, return to work plans and documentation.
  • Proven ability to exercise judgement, tact, and discretion in preparing, disclosing, and handling information of a confidential and / or sensitive nature.
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills to solution targeted,

  • Skills in counselling and supporting safe return to work.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); HRIS an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrating the highest of professional standards.
  • Strong relationship building skills to partner effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, e.g. Human Rights Codes (HRC), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA), Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
