Job Description : Reporting to the Operational Security Coordinator, the Operational Security Technician is responsible for issuing work permits to ensure the safe execution of work.
To do this, he makes rounds on board vessels to validate the safe execution of the work. He participates in the development of rescue plans and the issuance of certificates of absence of explosive gas.
He ensures that fall protection equipment is safe by carrying out a time-based maintenance. He contributes to the development of safe behaviours by providing coaching related to his field of expertise.
RESPONSIBILITIES : Evaluate the work to be carried out and make recommendations on safe ways to carry it out;Issue and follow up on work permits for the sector, verifying that conditions are met;
Participate in the development of confined space and height rescue plans;Verify the condition of the premises and assist in issuing explosive gas certificates before hot work is carried out in a compartment or tank;
Carry out an inspection of fall protection equipment and rescue equipment;Maintain Permits Office plans and applications;
Perform compliance audits on fall protection installations in his area;Advise the production department on risky work such as working in confined spaces, working at height, working with hazardous materials, etc.
Optimize best practices in the issuance process of work permits;Respond to emergencies as a member of the emergency response team;
Participate in the development of intervention procedures for technical rescues;Carry out any other tasks related to his duties.
EXIGENCES Diploma in occupational health and safety or fire prevention;Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar position;
Good physical condition;Experience in a unionized environment (an asset);Experience related to technical rescues;Excellent stress management skills;
Training in the inspection of fall protection equipment;Experience in gas detection (4 gases, 6 gases), working at heights and in confined spaces;
Knowledge of fire prevention;Ability to use and interpret drawings;Knowledge of standards and regulations;Knowledge in the field of ship repair;
