Our client is a newly-formed and well-funded management group poised for explosive growth in the retail cannabis space. With significant current ownership of existing real estate assets, and multiple retail store license application approvals in the final stages with provincial governments, this group will rapidly establish one of the most significant footprints of retail cannabis stores in the country.
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Retail, the Director of Marketing and Brand Strategy will have a broad mandate to define, develop, manage, and grow the brand and marketing strategies of a portfolio of cannabis retail chains.
Developing plans and executing projects which support short and long term launch and growth goals, the Director of Marketing and Brand Strategy will be an experienced and multidisciplinary creative leader who combines strategic thinking with creative execution to bring brands to life.
An exceptionally multi-faceted role, the successful candidate should be comfortable wearing the hats of a brand strategist, creative director, project manager, store designer, marketing manager, team leader, and executive.

What You'll Do :
Immediate priorities for the successful candidate will be to work with the VP Retail to take initial store concept collateral and build a brand identity, story, voice, and initial marketing strategy, creating and deploying everything needed for the launch of the first brand and its retail locations under the ownership group.
Develop, manage, and maintain, and enforce the corporate brand identities and brand standards across all ownership group companies.
Oversee implementation and proper execution of both tangible and intangible brand concepts, identities, assets etc. across all locations.
Understand and apply quantitative and qualitative marketing and branding methodologies, such as drivers of choice, brand valuation, elements of value, NPS and others, defining points of competitive differentiation.
Lead the integrated media planning and buying aspects for all retail and brand media campaigns, specifically content marketing and social media.
Establish presences on relevant social platforms. Create and execute organic content plans. Create and enforce community management procedures and practices.
In time, leverage customer data and oversee the deployment of relationship marketing techniques to contribute to customer retention and sales growth.
Support or participate on various cross functional teams as assigned.

What You Bring :
Post-secondary degree in Fine Arts, Communications, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
A broad and inclusive portfolio of tangible achievement in branding, marketing, advertising, and media, with the ability to speak to the creative evolution and results on a campaign-by-campaign basis.
5+ years' experience in similar role.
An impeccable sense of judgement, with a strong moral compass and uncompromising ethical framework.
Preference given to applicants with :
Past experience with retail in a regional or national environment.
MBA or significant postgraduate achievement.
Recent experience in startup or entrepreneurial companies, ideally with a track record of participating from startup to profitability.
