Project Engineer - Industrial Mechanics


The experienced Engineer will work in the pulp and paper sector. The selected candidate will be called upon to work on projects involving timber handling, pulp readying, paper machines and all systems related to the Kraft process.

Working with our Industrial Mechanics team, the incumbent will take on the role of Engineer in the design and dimensioning of a variety of mechanical systems, and will act as expert reference for rotating and stationary equipment.


  • Draft project studies and prepare expert reports;
  • Develop project execution plans and understand project objectives;
  • Draft fund allocation requests (DAF / AR);
  • Develop technical solutions;
  • Assess retained solutions;
  • Produce mechanical drawings and specifications;
  • Develop general factory design layouts (general, mechanical, plumbing);
  • Perform calculations and select the components for mechanical systems;
  • Determine equipment specifications;
  • Ensure proper coordination among suppliers / sub-contractors and client representatives;
  • Ensure proper coordination among internal areas of expertise working on a project;
  • Analyze proposals and formulate purchasing recommendations;
  • Develop project timelines;
  • Take part in site surveys;
  • Provide technical support for the Construction Site Supervision team;
  • Provide technical support for the Operations and Maintenance departments.
  • Profile

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec;
  • 3 to 7 years of experience working in industry experience in the pulp and paper sector or another relevant industrial field (petrochemical, mining and metals, etc.) is an asset;
  • Experience in mechanical design, pumping systems and rotating equipment;
  • Availability to work in factories and at the firm’s offices;
  • Excellent aptitude for working as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Heightened sense of autonomy, mastery of issues related to industrial production;
  • Proven leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of stakeholders;
  • Proficiency in French and English (oral and written);
  • Certification in Health & Safety on Construction Sites (ASP Card) is an asset;
