Our client is a full service, stable, profitable Tier 1 producer of automotive parts and systems with stamping and complex welded assemblies for several major OEMs This is a fast paced environment utilizing state of the art manufacturing technologies and a good place to work.

Ongoing growth and expansion require the search and selection of a Maintenance Area Leader (Manager) :


The Maintenance Area Leader is responsible for the co-ordination and assignment of all departmental activities related to maintenance operations and ensuring that all timing schedules and trades' regulations are adhered to.

The Area Leader supports Leadership, Lead hands and Maintenance personnel by acting as liaison in matters regarding policy application, employee relations, and continuous improvement for processes and productivity.

This position carries direct and / or indirect leadership responsibility for approximately 50 employees.


  • Post-secondary education and / or Certificate of Qualification in a skilled trade (Millwright, Electrician, Tool & Die) and 3 years of related work experience
  • 3-5 years Leadership / Supervisory role
  • Has obtained or working toward MMP certification, PEMAC organization
  • Completion of Post Graduate Program an asset
  • Experience in Material Flow Design in a Tier One automotive environment
  • ERP systems experience, specifically CMS in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to use Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) along with data analysis to drive business objectives and operational excellence
  • Experienced in Lean Implementation (standardized work- 5S, value stream mapping, A3 Method.
  • Must possess human relations skills and maturity of judgment
  • DUTIES :

  • Be responsible and accountable for meeting Company and departmental targets and goals. Established targets and goals are being met according to established targets, with no delays or issues
  • Participates in personnel requirements planning, overtime scheduling, coordinating layoffs, etc. Participates in establishing manpower plans and overtime scheduling ensuring that procedures have been followed regarding budgets hours of work etc.
  • Manpower numbers have been maintained as per established targets (standard manning), proper authorization and processes have been followed when adherence to established targets could not be met.
  • Follows OT equalization and / or authorization policy.

  • Co-ordinates preventative maintenance with tool room / maintenance technical group. and production planner. Preventative maintenance has been completed on scheduled without creating any interruptions or delays
  • Orders materials required for repair, modification, installation, and maintenance of equipment. Abides by Company Purchasing Policy
  • Participate in quotations and follow up related to new projects. Assigns competent trade and follows up with inter-department requests.
  • Manages Maintenance E-Maint Program. Every breakdown is entered into E-Maint, uses data to determine proactive courses of action.
  • Ensures that Lead hands : Regularly monitor scoreboards to observe where issues are occurring, and that they offer assistance and support to team members;
  • Respond to Andon based on the escalation process, involve support groups as required; Quality issues or concerns within their area of responsibility, are dealt with by applying root cause analysis, in an effective manner.

    OA is at target and / or has been steadily improving. Uses TWI methods where applicable.
