Marketing Technology team within Amazon Advertising is looking for a motivated and experienced Software Development Manager to own and lead the engineering team, platform and roadmap for Advertising., which is the main ingress for all of Amazon Advertising. The team will grow

substantially in 2020 and we are looking for a strong engineering leader to grow the team, build best in class customer experiences and deliver a scalable system that will work in up to 150 different countries, support multiple different languages in each country, and allow content to be easily created and distributed.

You will be responsible for enhancing the capabilities of the platform, which is the primary channel that our users use to advertise at Amazon, and thus have an important role in enabling the growth of our business.

This is a highly visible position with significant impact and growth. The software development manager, along with the product manager will be the single threaded owners of the vision, capabilities and success of the platform.

To be successful in this role, you are customer obsessed and have sharp business acumen to build a product vision and roadmap that contributes to the success of both our internal and external customers.

You are a technical leader with track record of building and growing engineering and data teams. You ship error free software and own the day to day maintenance and evolution of systems that serve the needs of our large and growing base of users.

You will :

  • Own technical vision and direction : You identify and mitigate risks, construct project schedules, and prepare status reports;

  • Collaborate on product direction : You’ll build and maintain strong relationships between engineering, product management and partner disciplines (Product, User Experience, QA) to ensure that we're focused on delivering the right product for customers.
  • Lead beyond your team : You will be a key leader within Amazon’s advertising organization. You will contribute to the overall growth of our product development organization.
  • You'll share your best practices and technical acumen in order to drive technology decisions across our organization.

  • Own your own shop : Our products reach hundreds of millions of customers around the world. We run operations 24x7x365 and the services your team delivers must meet high standards for operational excellence.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or closely related field
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers
  • Experience in partnering with Product and Program management teams
  • Experience in building scalable systems based on web services
  • Master’s degree in computer science, Math, Physics or related field
  • Experience in performance advertising technology in a role where you managed significant complexity and scaling challenges
  • A track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional, projects that have been successfully delivered to customers
  • Experience using AWS technologies like S3, Cloudfront, DynamDB
  • A willingness to dive deep, experiment rapidly and get things done.
  • A good understanding of SDLC models and a track record of shipping software efficiently. You recognize the difference between building software and shipping software.
  • Deep hands-on technical expertise.
  • Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills.
