Requisition ID : 83072Join the Global Community of Scotiabankers to help customers become better off.Purpose of JobThe Manager, Loss Data Operational Risk is primarily responsible for contributing to the Bank's operational risk event data collection, analysis and reporting program and is fundamental to both internal and regulatory reporting related to operational loss data and capital, and both RDARR and operational risk AMA / SMA requirements.

Major AccountabilitiesManagement of the Bank’s enterprise operational loss data collection, classification, and reporting process, to provide effective tracking, measurement and reporting of operational losses across all significant units of the Bank, its subsidiaries and affiliatesExecution of enterprise operational risk loss event data quality controlsProvision of accurate and timely data for the inclusion in executive reports, and to the appropriate capital management and modelling groupsCompletion of operational loss data submissions to regulators and other external bodies, (ORX submissions, QIS, L3 reporting)Contribute to the maintenance of policies, procedures and standards documents relating to operational risk event management reporting and data governanceParticipation in external forums for the ongoing development of operational risk management and data management and analysis practicesProviding guidance, support, and training for entering and maintaining operational risk event loss data in IBM Openpages, (the book of record), reporting requirements and ad hoc requests for internal and external usersManagement of the operational risk loss database (Openpages)Contributing to the provision of regular training and lessons learned sessions on the application of the Operational Risk Event Reporting StandardsLiaising with IT and business users to assess proposed amendments or enhancements to the operational risk event databaseSupport other projects as requiredThe incumbent has : Strong knowledge of operational risk event loss data reporting and working knowledge of AMA / SMA regulation requirements for operational risk capitalExperience of data analysis techniques to support trend analysis and data quality validationSystems knowledge, including knowledge of database systems and structures, is required, specifically IBM OpenpagesExperience with a combination of VBA, SAS, Cognos, Power BI and superior Excel skillsBroad knowledge of a bank’s business lines and structureIn addition the incumbent should have knowledge of RDARR requirements and a working knowledge of, and interest in operational risk capital calculation methodsAbility to gather, analyze, organize, document and present large volumes of information in a succinct and organized mannerExcellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively and efficientlyEducational and Other Requirements : Education in business or computer science with focus on data analytics and data governance and management, and 5-7 years’ experience in a similar financial institution.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to prepare communications and interact effectively with senior levels of management throughout the BankStrong business acumen and ability to manage multiple competing projects and priorities under time pressure without compromising qualityStrong relationship management skills;
