Overview

The primary objective of this position is to provide support to the estimating and sales team and prepare timely and accurate estimates for tendered and negotiated projects.

Responsibilities

Verify contract documents and blueprints for accuracy and project materials to determine Precast scope of work. Responsible for all safety and environmental aspects on projects and at worksites.

Works directly sales, engineering, project managers and operations to understand project execution strategy and associated costs.

Inspect Job sites prior to tender process to review accessibility for installation of precast components. Cooperate with sales, operations and engineering to develop accurate project budget and quotations within Precast.

Preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates based on efficient construction practices, and using the most competitive and reliable subcontractors and suppliers.

Request third party service quotes to incorporate in proposals. Preparing final bid, complete with mark-up based on market conditions as per direction of the Sales Manager, Follow up and track bid results to monitoring of the construction market and identifying suitable projects which Lafarge would be interested in bidding.

Direct liaison with customers, consultants and owners. Ensure that client satisfaction has been achieved. Strong commitment to Lafarge Safety Standards.

Qualifications

Educational Background : Active enrollment in a diploma or degree program in Civil Engineering, Architectural technologist, or any other construction secondary discipline is required.

Experience : Experience : Strong understanding of the estimating process and interaction with other disciplines within the company.

General knowledge of the tendering processes and bid documents. Excellent organization and communication skills, attention to detail.

Experience in reading and understanding architectural and structural drawings, and specifications. Drafting experience, understanding of Isometric views, AutoCAD, etc, will be desirable.

Computer literate. Understanding of Microsoft excel, Microsoft project, and Bid2Win estimating software. Knowledge of BiM.

Revit, Sketch up, Bluebeam software will be an asset. Effective written an oral communications skills. Strong team player with a positive attitude and a self-
