Position Summary

As a Sea Freight Manager , you will be required to provide customer service and sales support within the Operations Department and lead the ocean import / export function for the Toronto Terminal to ensure a smooth, efficient and profitable operation.

Job Duties

  • Provide excellence in customer service and a first place of contact for client inquiries, concerns and complaints. Special attention to key assigned / troubled accounts.
  • Lead the import / export operation for the sea freight division. Coordinated duties, establish schedules, Select, develop, train and evaluate division staff.
  • Ensure maintenance of business relationships (customers and vendors).
  • Respond to oversea enquiries, and trouble shoot.
  • Complete accurate monthly reports assist the Management with budgeting and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Provide shipment information for customers and support the sales department in negotiating rates and quotes for services.
  • Ensure accurate filing system(s) are maintained.
  • Manage and maintain internal operational software systems.
  • Skills / Requirements

  • Formal Academic Training in related field (CITT or CIFFA preferred) and more than 10 years related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
