As a Pharmacy Technician at St. Mary's, you can expect to use your skill set to its fullest, within the scope of practice, in a progressive, fast-

paced environment. Our Pharmacy Technicians work collaboratively with Clinical Pharmacists and other healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective drug distribution to all of our patients.

Primarily, our Pharmacy Technicians are passionate about, and responsible for drug distribution activities including; prescription order entry, procurement, storage, compounding and dispensing.

What You'll Do

  • Perform prescription order entry in our de-centralized environment, and maintain Pharmacy Patient Profiles in collaboration with other healthcare professionals
  • Dispense and distribute medications within an Omnicell environment, including some individual patient prescriptions
  • Repackage oral solid and liquids into Unit Dose Packaging
  • Assist with Inventory management, including receiving and Narcotic and Controlled Drug procedures
  • Audit work performed by other Pharmacy Technicians
  • Participate in staff training and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Position Requirements

  • Pharmacy Technician, in good standing, with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Program preferred
  • Experience with prescription order entry in a busy retail setting, or hospital pharmacy preferred
  • Excellent performance record with the ability to maintain this standard (e.g., high accuracy etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, interdisciplinary team environment
  • Proven ability to apply critical thinking, problem solve and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles of Lean Management preffered
