This is a 6 month casual position, working 75 hours bi-weekly. Temporary assignments may be considered.

The Wildland Fire Management branch contributes to protection of people, property and the development of sustainable, fire resilient Yukon communities and infrastructure.
This position is responsible for providing a full range of public relations, social marketing, and professional internal and external communications functions and services to the Wildland Fire Management Branch.
The candidate requires the ability to be strategic and tactical and is a person who can make things happen through their positive attitude and commitment to team work.
The position is responsible for both writing and leading the development of a range of products including speeches, news releases, strategies, publications and web content.

Candidates who have an equivalent combination of relevant coursework and considerable work experience in the field of communications will be equally considered.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of media relations, research techniques, and communications methods, strategies and planning.
The candidate will have strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills, be able to manage and produce high quality work within short deadlines and changing priorities, and will appropriately apply political acumen.
Success in this role requires exceptional oral and written communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a team based environment, and skills with using a variety of computer applications and programs.
Candidates must also have effective interpersonal skills, self-awareness, the ability to take responsibility for actions, and will have strong influence skills.
