Job Title :

Senior Leader Revenue, Distribution and Network at Swoop :

Purpose : Reporting to the Head of Commercial and Finance, this individual will lead and develop a team of analysts and specialists implementing overall revenue management and pricing strategies, developing new products and ancillaries, exploring new distribution channels and managing Swoop’s rapidly expanding network.

Revenue Management & Pricing :

  • Develop and implement overall revenue management and pricing strategies, plans and programs for Swoop;
  • Lead identification of commercial opportunities and concerns, activating the commercial team as needed toward tactical and strategic actions including system sales, new product development and policy and process optimization;
  • Benchmark and monitor the pricing strategy versus the competition and
  • provide regular revenue forecasts to senior leadership;
  • Ensure function can support various distribution channels / partners (e.g. Groups) but have direct distribution as the cornerstone of the business.

    Ancillary and Product Development :

  • Provide strategic oversight for the product and ancillaries portfolio : Optimize existing products and lead the evaluation, development and implementation of new sources of ancillary revenue;
  • Identify & assess new sources of revenue through market research & trends, understanding consumer needs and feedback;
  • Work cross functionally and coordinate with digital, operations and revenue management to determine business requirements and develop implementation plans;
  • Track / monitor product offering and delivery against the traveller journey vision.
  • Distribution :

  • Oversee the development of Swoop’s distribution strategy and initiatives to capitalize on digital, OTA, API, META and / or other technologies and relationships to maximize Swoop profitability and market presence;
  • Plan the future enhancements, partnerships etc. strategic and tactical - needed to drive customer traffic to the website / M-commerce channels;
  • Manage the day to day build and ongoing development of the website and other market relevant e-commerce sales channels.
  • Network Planning & Growth Strategy :

  • Manage Swoop’s overall network of routes (Domestic, Trans border and International) to drive network profitability;
  • Lead the market evaluation for the development and optimization of Swoop’s current and future network (destinations, timing, frequency, scheduling, stimulation analyses);
  • Determine route objectives and develop an action plan to develop / enter new markets;
  • Review and provide recommendations based on the results of monthly route performance to commercial and operations to optimize overall network profitability.
  • External & Regulatory Relationships :

  • Own, maintain and optimize all Swoop Tariffs for (1) Domestic, (2) Transborder and (3) International operations;
  • Own and lead regulatory relationships with CTA, DOT, and foreign governments in Mexico, Jamaica and other countries Swoop may operate to, including regulatory compliance and Fare Filing This will include extensive liaison with the WestJet Group who will provide support in various key areas;
  • Understanding of point-of-sale and point-of-origin concepts including their application to foreign currency and advertising compliance;
  • Act as business lead regarding regulatory questions and concerns and a liaison to WestJet legal team regarding items of Commercial and ULCC best practice concern.
  • Qualifications :

  • Completed Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Commerce, Business or Marketing, MBA preferred;
  • 5+ years or commercial airline experience with at least 5 years in a network development or revenue management role;
  • 5 + years of management experience with strong leadership capabilities for developing and coaching a team of professionals;
  • Strong strategic development skills and ability to frame the bigger picture;
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas to various audiences;
  • Highly analytical, data driven decision maker with a strong ability to influence through interpersonal skills;
  • Driven individual who enjoys an unstructured environment where the types of analysis will fluctuate depending on needs of the business;
  • Ability to handle pressure and meet tight timelines in an environment with a high volume of activity;
  • Attention to detail, organized and thorough, with a desire for continuous improvement
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, ATPCO, Navitaire, AVFM, SRS Analyzer, AirRM, Zulu, GDS / OTA;
  • This position may be eligible for relocation assistance and is based in Calgary Alberta.
  • A competitive compensation package will be negotiated based on experience and qualifications with a base salary in excess of $110,240 annually.

    This position is eligible for annual compensation reviews and potential increases in excess of 2% of compensation, and a performance bonus as per Swoop’s compensation policy and their Total Rewards program that includes the following : employee share purchase program, extended health, emergency travel medical, dental, vision, short-

    term disability (STD), long-term disability (LTD), life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D).
