Our Hamilton region client is a dynamic, fast-paced and growing financial services firm looking to add a Controller who will report directly to the CEO.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of an established and successful organization.

The Controller will be an organized self-starter who has full cycle accounting experience in the insurance brokerage industry.

The successful candidate has managed all full-cycle accounting functions including A / R, A / P, payroll, month-end close, monthly reporting, cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.

To be considered for the role of Controller, you must also be a designated CPA.

Job Requirements :

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversees full cycle accounting and payroll
  • Responsible for oversight of month-end and annual close
  • Reviews all g / l account reconciliations
  • Commission accounting
  • Manage annual external audit
  • Monthly management reporting
  • Variance analysis of actual results vs. budget and forecast
  • Manages 3 accounting staff, payroll, reception, mailroom
  • Ensure regulatory compliance
  • Oversees all tax installments and payments to government
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Oversees HR
  • Manage annual external audit
  • Special projects
  • Maintain policies and procedures for all processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve department processes and productivity
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • CPA designation
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Consolidation experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Proven problem-solving skills and able to make timely decisions
  • Self-starter and able to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Insurance brokerage experience is preferred
