Position Purpose summary :
The House Support Worker provides essential support to the emergency shelter clients staying at The Stevenson House.

BASIC FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES :
Cleans shelter rooms, washrooms, kitchen, lounge and common areas.
Packing up client’s belongings and prepping beds and rooms for new clients.
Monitors the environment and clients / residents to ensure safety and security; completes regular client / resident status.
Ensures client supervision and adherence to rules and policies.
Provides laundry services for the shelter and shelter clients.
Acts as a positive role model for clients by developing professional interpersonal relationships that promote dignity and respect.
Light food preparation and serving to clients at mealtimes.
Conducts all required shift change procedures prior to and after shift change.
Maintains required documentation and shelter log.
Performs basic building maintenance. Collects and disposes of refuse and maintains clean refuse area; performs spot cleaning as required.
Monitors appropriate behaviour; ensures the rules are followed.
Provides orientation to new clients.

Education / Certifications :
Preference to those who have completed High School and have related experience in social services field.
Current certification in First Aid / CPR
Successful obtainment of clearance through the Criminal Records Review Program
Non-violent crisis intervention training
Required Skills / Knowledge :

Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
