Our office in Victoriais looking for a Project Estimator to support our team.
Responsiblefor accurate take-offs and costs associated with projects we’re bidding. This position is required to closely interact with the Account Manager andProject Manager and assigned project staff to ensure timely completion of eachproject.
Typically requires an engineering technology diploma or degreeor one to three years of experience in estimating, engineering or constructionmanagement;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESincludethe following. Other functions may be assigned.
Responsible for calculating cost estimates for materials, purchased equipment, labor and other construction-related activities to assist management in bidding on or determining price of project.
Utilizes blueprints and specifications to analyze project needs and compile cost estimates.
Responsible for the take-off of equipment for proper size, configuration, voltage, options, etc.
Selects and prices proper equipment per the plans and specifications.
Creation of proposals with pricing.
Maintains job board to keep track of when projects are closing, and list of bidders for each project.
Responsible for identifying possible cost savings and / or cost problems that will occur on various projects.
Supports sales and develops submittal drawings as required.
Maintains competitive advantage and stays abreast of industry trends.
Optimizes expenses by negotiating prices with vendors for materials.
Documents work by maintaining files for each job.
Obtains and validates vendor quotes.
Responsible for holding job pre-bid meeting and makes any necessary changes as required.
Generates and distributes final proposal.
Flexibility to work overtime / weekends, as required.
Primary role is to support estimating for Victoria sales office. Secondary role is to support estimating for the Kelowna office.
Technologist diploma preferred; experience in a technical role a plus or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A keen interest in all facets of construction including mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, etc. preferred. Must have strong financial and business acumen
Proficient in MS office; CAD experience a plus
Must be able to travel locally
