The Junior Operations Accountant reports to the Sr. Operations Accountant, Modular Solutions, and will work closely with the Operations Accountants to provide support to Project management, Manufacturing, Procurement, Design, and Construction.

Assisting in analysis, working with KPIs, and reporting financial results, this role will provide key insights into the business.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare weekly and monthly project reporting and perform variance analysis and commentary to prior periods and to forecast at completion cost by project.
  • Prepare revised cost to complete estimates for install / mobilization on all projects and calculate / record construction-in-progress revenue accruals accordingly.
  • Monthly progress invoicing for all projects.
  • Support to Warranty jobs.
  • Collections facilitation and follow up for all projects.
  • Review the open purchase orders list by project with Project Managers on weekly basisReview and analysis of open purchase orders, following up with purchasers and vendors on status of services
  • Calculate the revenue based on percentage of completion for ongoing projects on monthly basis.
  • Work closely with Operations Accounting team in generating analysis and insight into the relationships between key performance indicators, revenues, cost drivers and understanding the financial results of individual projects.
  • Support quarterly financial forecasting process.
  • Record month-end journal entries based on financial information from that month, including accruals, account recs, etc..
  • Assist Sr. Operations Accountant with reporting, and special projects as necessary.
  • Review project estimates and ensure PO requests within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with and suggest appropriate changes to internal controls documentation.
  • Develop and refine month-end processes to streamline procedures and create efficiencies. Identify areas in need of improvement through root cause analysis and recommend / implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with accounting and operational groups to ensure monthly transactions are captured in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or Commerce, major in accounting
  • Minimum two (2) years of related accounting experience in cost accounting or project accounting environment.
  • Preference for individual in the process of pursuing accounting designation CPA.
  • Well-developed analytical skills and the ability to see the relationships between operations and financial results.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage a fluctuating workload, changing priorities and firm deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A results-oriented team player with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships within all levels of the organization.
  • Good IT and systems skills including the use of ERP systems and financial models. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are preferred.
  • Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains experience is preferred.
  • Power BI experience is preferred.

  • Trained, as necessary, in required safety protocols.
