PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish, implement and maintain the MacDon Configuration Management (CM) system and associated policies and procedures;
  • including CM Planning & Management, Configuration Identification, Change Management, Verification & Audit and Status Accounting, as well as configuration management of Digital Data.

  • Review and recommend improvements to existing CM processes.
  • Lead the activities of change management and product data management (PDM) professionals to ensure the structure of engineering changes meets the needs of downstream customers and that the implementations of such changes have adequate considerations for effectivity and interchangeability and timely communicated to ensure effective and efficient execution.
  • Record and report information needed to manage configuration items effectively, including the status of proposed changes and implementation status of approved changes.
  • Work with the configuration management team in development and enhancement of CM tools.
  • Assist in management, maintenance and automation of CM tools.
  • Prepare configuration documentations and maintain Configuration Management (CM) database.
  • Maintain data quality, integrity and security of CM database.
  • Schedule audits on CM database and assist in implementing audit recommendations.
  • Work closely with engineering groups in the creation of product baseline configuration.
  • Establish and implement process and procedures for drawings and document checking / proofing functions.
  • Prepare a physical configuration audit plan based on production schedule and NPD prototype build schedule.
  • Support the new product development (NPD) process by working closely with project managers to develop project configuration management plan and technical data & document control requirement.
  • Chair the Configuration Review Board (CRB) and Provide coaching and mentoring to its members as well as the PDM Team on all aspects of Configuration Management.
  • Maintain proper revision controls of software deliverables.
  • Ensure revision control of the delivery of software applications during software validation test and deployment environments.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report as required to the Director on performance and status of the team deliverables.
  • Collect the necessary data and develop the appropriate key performance indicators that accurately depict the CM department performance.
  • These quality levels are dynamic and should be achieved and increased regularly.

  • Create Performance Plans and conduct Performance Reviews per MacDon’s human resource management systems.
  • Assist in the maintenance of staffing levels, including planning of vacations, absences and general workforce management.
  • Continuously improve the associated processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Science or Technology program or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership role; in configuration management with experience in complex products.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on configuration management experience.
  • Applied knowledge of configuration management concepts, industry standards and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Windows operating systems, MS office, Auto CAD and intra / internet environment is required
  • Ability to prepare and conduct functional and / or physical configuration audits
  • CM Certification is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of JDE 9.2 or later is a definite asset.
  • Working knowledge of PLM software is an asset.
