The Canadian Regional Manager is the in-house expert on EHS&S issues for the manufacturing sites in the region. The roles of the Regional Manager include :
Serve as the point of contact for the approximately 15 manufacturing sites and 2 mines on all EHS&S issues for which they need assistance.
Provide consistent and efficient roll-out and training to the site personnel on CSG, Sectors, or SGC NA programs.
Provide guidance and training on technical and regulatory aspects of EHS as needed.
Share best practices with sites and with Regional Managers for other regions.
Interface with government / provincial agencies on EHS&S issues, and with assistance of in-house EHS&S counsel, North American EHS&S Director, & CertainTeed Safety Director, participate in EHS&S negotiations, and also propose and help coordinate any required remediation or abatement.
Perform EHS&S audits of sites for regulatory compliance and conformance with CSG guidelines (ISA and others) and Canadian legal requirements.
Provide direct technical support to sites to meet EHS&S objectives as needed, including permitting, process or product review, regulatory interpretation.
Interface with other Regional EHS&S Managers; roll-out and assist with business-specific EHS&S initiatives for site; and prepare EHS data and summaries as needed by a site’s management.
Provide technical leadership in North America on at least one EHS area and / or lead one-two SG programs, including the roll-
out and serve as train the trainer for that program in NA.
Create, lead, develop, implement and measure a demand side energy, water, waste, & CO2 program for Canadian sites with the overall objective to reduce consumption / emissions on a per-
unit basis in a cost effective manner. All of which is intended to add value to each site and business, while promoting SG products and policies to reduce and conserve energy, water and waste.
Results will be applicable to all Saint-Gobain businesses.
The position will serve as the Canadian region expert on CO2 Cap & Trade / Carbon Tax / Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act (GGPPA) or similar programs.
BS Degree in Science / Engineering discipline
Minimum 6 to 10 years of experience as an EHS Manager
Familiar with manufacturing environments and common industrial process equipment
ISO 14001 / 45001 principles / programs
World Class Manufacturing Health & Safety Pillars
Knowledge of Scientific Problem Solving Methods (preferably WCM Focused Improvement toolset)
Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
Certified Industrial Hygienist
