Position Title : Activity Leader, Additional Support & Inclusion, YMCA Kids Club (Before and After School Program)
Location : Mount Pleasant YMCA Kids Club (2300 Guelph St, Vancouver)
Terms : Part-time, Permanent : 25 hours / week
Additional hours available during early dismissals and school closures.
Program follows the school calendar. Work may be available at this or different YMCA Day Camp locations during summer, spring, and winter breaks.
Shift : Monday - Friday 7 : 30am - 9 : 00am & 2 : 30pm - 6 : 00pm
Rate : $18.21 / hour + benefits
Start Date : As soon as possible
Reports to : Team Leader, YMCA Kids Club

Job Description :
Our YMCA Kids Club before and after school care programs provide a safe, fun environment that encourages children to try new things.
We are looking for passionate, energetic, flexible, caring and responsible individuals to work with school age children before and / or after school.
YMCA Additional Support Activity Leaders are responsible for ensuring children with challenging behaviors or support needs have an inclusive before and after school experience.
Responsibilities :
Work effectively within a staff team to provide an inclusive environment of support, strategies, and resources for children with diverse needs to fully participate within the program.
Help to build a community of inclusion for all children through supporting strengths and stretches
Build and maintain positive relationships with children and their families, and key stakeholders
Contribute to the development, integration, and maintenance of care plans within the program
Help children navigate conflict and role model positive behaviors
Ensure the health and safety of children in your care
Adhere to workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices and procedures
Qualifications / Experience :
Must be 19 years of age
Experience working or volunteering with children ages 5 - 12
Experience working with children with additional support needs
Emergency First Aid & CPR in accordance with Schedule C of the Child Care Licensing Regulation (can be taken within 90 days of start date)
It is an asset if you have had training related to child development, and if you don’t the YMCA provides training!
Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check / Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date.
Criminal record check application forms will be provided to you by the YMCA as we are required to use the provincial Criminal Record Review Program
The YMCA has implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy requiring all staff and volunteers to be fully vaccinated, as per the timeline set out by the province.
