TELUS’ Social and Media Relations team is searching for a dynamic, innovative and engaging Communications Manager to help tell our Consumer Mobility story to external audiences.

This is a mid-level role reporting to a senior team lead.
Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together
As a key player on TELUS’ Social and Media Relations team, you’ll manage our Consumer Mobility portfolio end-to-end. You'll proactively promote our key differentiators (e.
g., network quality, customer service) and work with partners like Apple, Samsung and Google on marquee device and accessory launches.
You’ll also help protect TELUS’ brand and reputation by expertly managing ongoing issues and breaking stories, with support from the larger Social & Media Relations team.
Leading our Consumer Mobility portfolio; working across internal teams to uncover news and story ideas to creatively communicate through earned, owned, paid and social media
Partnering with our internal communications, influencer, brand journalism and social media teams to develop comprehensive integrated communications plans
Collaborating with your colleagues across the Social & Media Relations team on broader company-wide communications initiatives like social purpose, Customers First and technology leadership
Writing media releases and pitches; acting as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and company spokesperson when required
Expertly managing day-to-day issues and acting as the Mobility subject matter expert in crisis situations
Providing communications counsel and support to leaders and teams in your portfolios
You're the missing piece of the puzzle
You have a minimum of 5 years of communications experience in a corporate or agency environment
You’re part strategist and part project manager, who is as adept at big-picture ideas as you are at end-to-end tactical execution
You have a way with words and are comfortable speaking with media as well as senior leaders
You are calm, cool and collected in times of crisis and have a keen interest in taking on more responsibility in issues management
You have an understanding of the evolving media landscape and experience across earned, owned, paid and influencer media
You’re savvy across traditional media and digital platforms; understanding what makes a good Financial Post story and what makes a good Instagram Story (and everything in between)
You’re a sociable and collaborative team player who wants to be part of innovative, passionate and diverse team that manages the reputation for one of Canada’s most admired brands -

Experience in the telecom and / or consumer technology industry
Experience working with social media and influencers
Undergraduate degree or equivalent post-secondary education
Bilingualism in English & French
