DESCRIPTION: 

Working within a multi-task team environment performing and/or assisting in Operation and/or maintenance routines on building equipment. Perform regular and routine inspections of assigned areas.  The position demands flexibility (shift required), and a positive, cooperative work attitude.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to all tenant requests related to HVAC, electrical, cabling, elevators and automated lighting control.
  • Respond to calls related but not limited to, opening doors, plumbing.
  • Assist Maintenance Operations with daily plant start up and shutdown of the building equipment, lighting control system and Life and Support Systems.
  • Assist in testing of Fire alarm devices, Fire protection equipment and emergency diesel generator.
  • Carry out daily routine checks of building equipment.
  • Replace ballasts and starters as required.
  • Monitor water treatment and do corrections as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Chief Engineer.
  • Embody and support Brookfield Properties’ Safety, Health and Environment Policy.
    • Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate hazards to reduce risk to the workplace.
    • Engage in training and continuing education to develop the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to work safely.
    • Take action to stop work if it cannot be executed safely or if conditions or behaviours are unsafe.
    • Immediately report SH&E incidents, near-misses, unsafe conditions, and/or at-risk behaviours to their supervisor; then diligently work to correct the problem
    • Promote safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all Brookfield Properties Safe Work Procedures.
    • Wear Personal Protective Equipment when required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

SERVICE / PERSONAL SKILLS: 

Service oriented with excellent communication skills.  Must be self-motivated and flexible, with the ability to work both independently and in a team.  Must have a positive attitude and present a professional image.

EXPERIENCE & TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Minimum three years’ experience in an operations/maintenance capacity.  Capable of operating large equipment such as chillers, boilers, compressors, etc.
  • Must have knowledge of building mechanical, electrical and safety equipment. 
  • Must be capable of working with hand tools and performing basic mechanical and electrical repairs. 
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC preventative maintenance.

 

EDUCATION/DESIGNATIONS/LICENSES:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.  
  • A certificate in Building Environment Systems (or equivalent) or working towards it will be an asset.
