Role Are you interested in Beekeeping? The Plant and Bee Health Surveillance Section has multiple seasonal wage opportunities with our Apiculture Inspection team in both Edmonton and Lethbridge.
This competition is being used to fill up to four vacancies in Edmonton and Lethbridge - please state your preference for location in your application.
This focus of these positions will be on conducting and assisting with honey bee inspection and surveillance activities in support of Alberta Agriculture and Forestry's regulatory commitments under the Bee Act, the Animal Health Act and Regulations.
These positions perform a variety of tasks in both the field and laboratory. It involves working directly with clients in the field, supports regulatory extension activities in serving Alberta beekeepers and working collaboratively with a great team of people.

Key Responsibilities :
Both the Bee Inspector and Inspector Assistant roles will require the incumbents to travel across Alberta with some overnight stays as a group.
Out of town work can include single evening stays and potentially up to one week on the road.
We are looking for individuals who have the ability to work independently, with limited supervision. Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational skills are required.
These are front-line positions with considerable client contact, and may encounter conflict situations, given the regulatory nature of the roles.
Applicants must have a valid Class 5 Driver's license and a suitable driving history with no more than 8 demerits. Your application must include a 5 year Commercial Driver's Abstract issued within 30 days of your application submission.
Salary $19.86 - $25.05 / hour (Technologies 1)
$21.48 - $27.12 / hour (Technologies 2)
Notes The ability to travel within Alberta is required. Valid Class 5 driver's license is required. Valid First Aid - Level 'C' CPR certificate is required prior to commencement.
These positions will be required to work extended hours.
Please note these positions will be for a duration of 6 months.
