What is the opportunity?

You will lead the development of end to end technical solution architecture for RBC Global Asset Management (GAM) projects and initiatives.

You will build relationships with enterprise architecture, engineering and innovation teams and will collaborate with technical SMEs within Business Technology to define and evolve GAM’s application architecture standards.

What will you do?

  • Facilitate the solution design process, document and effectively present proposed solution architecture and alternatives
  • Provide guidance and advice to software development and solution delivery teams during implementation
  • Build relationships with enterprise architecture, engineering and innovation teams. Facilitate adoption of new ideas and solutions within GAM Business Technology.
  • Define repeatable architecture patterns and blueprints for design and implementation of GAM solutions.
  • Develop and maintain architecture artifacts records for the portfolio of assigned applications.
  • Must-have

  • Excellent communication skills, inclusive and collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical area of study (computer science, mathematics, engineering, etc.) or equivalent combination of practical experience and professional training.
  • Total IT experience of at least 10 years, with 3+ years in software development and design experience on enterprise level projects
  • Solid experience across a variety of technologies and design approaches (e.g. .NET, J2EE, mainframe, virtualization, vendor packaged and / or hosted solutions, multi-
  • technology platform applications, SOA, etc.)

  • Prior experience visualizing, depicting, and conveying complex concepts to a broadly diverse audience through various tools and communication approaches
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to manage large cross functional technical teams and to define, influence and impact the overall technical direction
  • Nice-to-have

  • Experience in the financial industry, particularly with investment management
  • Experience with cloud service and / or big data analytics (e.g. Hadoop, Data Lake)
  • Experience leveraging real time data pipelines, data streaming and message queues (e.g. Kafka, Redis)
  • Experience integrating applications with API management platforms (e.g. Apigee, MuleSoft)
  • Prior consulting and people management experience
  • Advanced IT management degree, IT industry involvement, or broad technical experience
