This is an exciting role for a payroll professional who enjoys leading a team through transformational change! Reporting to the Controller, the Payroll Manager will lead the transactional, operational and advisory team out of our Canada head office, located in Burlington, ON.

The Payroll Manager will provide leadership to our customer focused team who provide transactional services and expert advice to employees, managers and HR Business Partners.

This role combines the equally important tasks of day-to-day payroll support as well as the opportunity for the right candidate to contribute to transformational initiatives that will change the way our employees receive service.

Position Summary

Tasks to be Accomplished

  • Manage, lead, coach and oversee Payroll team
  • Ensures team accurately completes the full cycle bi-weekly payroll process for 1,000+ employees
  • Maintains a clear understanding of Payroll’s responsibilities to HR and Finance.
  • Continuous learning in relation to payroll related legislation.
  • Lead the implementation of a new payroll system
  • Ensures compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal controls.
  • Reviews payroll account reconciliations.
  • Understands the impact of time recording system to the financial statement.
  • Leads the implementation of process improvements.
  • Facilitates the forecasting of headcount and payroll related information
  • Business Partner to other departments
  • Facilitate International Payroll for 20+ employees in 10+ Countries
  • Manage payroll services for 20+ Canadian staff of other L3 entities across Canada
  • Skills Required

  • Project management skills
  • Ability to delegate, coach, oversee and motivate team members
  • Maintains a positive attitude under tight deadlines
  • Adaptable to changing priorities
  • Advanced awareness of Excel capabilities.
  • Solid knowledge of Ontario Payroll legislation.
  • Understanding of SOX and US GAAP
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Understanding of ADP is preferred
  • Time Track tool Infor : ERPLN is an asset
  • Experience & Education Requirements

  • 2+ years of Management experience, 7+ years of Payroll experience
  • University Degree or College Diploma in a related program
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) from The Canadian Payroll Association
