DMC Mining Services is a leading provider of mining services and solutions. As one of North American’s premier underground contractors for over 35 years, our comprehensive list of mining services, range from shaft sinking and raise boring, to full mine development and operation.
Currently, we are looking for a Senior Estimator based out of the Val Caron, ON office. As the Senior Estimator, you will be tasked to work on detailed estimates, budgets and work methodologies for various construction, engineering and mining projects.
This role will have a high-level accountability to ensure that the objectives and scope of the projects are met to DMC standards and to client expectations.
The Senior Estimator will demonstrate DMC’s core values of Zero Harm, Teamwork, Results Driven, Courage and Accountability.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review bid documents and define methodologies.
Estimate productivities, equipment and manpower requirements.
Estimate capital and operating costs, from first principles.
Schedule estimates, projects and resources.
Monthly and Daily production schedules.
Provide cash flow projections to generate net present values, rates of return and paybacks.
Preparation and maintenance of tender documents including contract language.
Conduct feasibility studies.
Budget preparation to support field cost management.
Establish and implement cost control activities.
Conduct site visits as required.
Produce documentation for economic appraisals of acquisitions or new mine projects.
Performance analysis for tasks within the mining cycle.
Liaison with industry suppliers to maintain current price database.
Draw, sketch and draft drawings as required.
Draws upon all necessary resources to resolve any project or proposal challenges.
Support project from start-up to completion as required.
Takes responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety, and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to DMC.
Demonstrate commitment to the continued improvement of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment.
Demonstrate commitment to the continued improvement of estimating processes as described above.
Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Monitor project progress and issue cost reports as required.
Advise and facilitate in management bid reviews. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Minimum of 5 year’s estimating experience within the contract mining industry.
Post-Secondary Degree qualification or Technical Diploma in Mine Engineering.
Advanced proficiency with the following computer programs / systems is required : o MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Project, Adobe.
o Primavera (P6), Hard Dollar, Bid 2 Win (B2W) or experience with similar programs is an asset. o Experience with AutoCAD is an asset.
o Industry research protocols, (Internet).
Must possess clear and effective oral and written communication skills.
