Financial Planning &Advice brings together financial planning service support, specialized advisoryservices such as Tax and Estate Planning, Business Transition, WealthStrategists along with Financial Planning Consultants.

These groups create acenter of excellence to enhance delivery of our integrated Wealth Managementoffer. Financial Planning and Advice is part of the Commercial Banking andWealth Management Team

What You’ll Be Doing

Witha main focus on operational efficiency and compliance, this role isinstrumental to the oversight, regulation, administration, training andaccreditation of the Financial Planning team of Wealth Strategists, FinancialPlanning Specialists, and Financial Planning Consultants.

Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning& Advice Support, the incumbent will lead a team that works collaborativelywith the FP&A leadership team, FPCs, FPS, Wealth Strategists and internalpartners in Personal Banking, Risk, Compliance, Technology and Finance to ensure compliance with regulatorystandards and nationally consistent policies and procedures.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Manage IIROC delegation duties from the SrDirectors of Financial Planning
  • Review FP&A policies and procedures to developconsistent, efficient, and effective standards across all regional teams withinFP&A
  • Ensure FP&A teams are meeting all compliance and regulatoryrequirements for IIROC and MFDA in partnership with S.D.s, Regional Team Leads,and FPAs, including owning and updating compliance and regulatory reviewprocedures
  • Provide effective consultation, coaching serviceand support to Regional Directors and their teams regarding topics ofcompliance, sales process and reporting, performance metrics and tracking,accreditation, training and on-going development.
  • Participate and facilitate regular calls withregions on the above topics to ensure consistency and common understanding ofthe Financial Planning team standards.
  • Where necessary, work with the Director,Financial Planning, Senior Directors, Financial Planning and other relevantpartners to take corrective action

  • Encourage and support a continuous improvementculture within Financial Planning
  • Support the teams in business and client riskmitigation by proactively identifying and preventing missed opportunities andraising risks proactively
  • Provide feedback on solutions, productivity andclient interaction escalations
  • Support the implementation of the FPC compensation program working withpartners in HR and Senior Directors.
  • Provide leadership and manage direct reports toinfluence employee commitment to the organization, to the team, and to theirjob by
  • Setting appropriate context when assigning work toensure that individuals’ roles support the achievement of the business unit’spriorities and CIBC’s overall goals
  • Building team and individual capabilities byproviding development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects,and training
  • Managing performance by providing fair and accurateformal and informal feedback, identifying and removing obstacles to performanceand by explaining how performance expectations align with business priorities;
  • Creating a positive work environment and being aneffective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values;
  • Ensuring compliance with policies, standards,guidelines and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly andconsistently so employees understand what to expect, and;
  • Hiring the right people in the right jobs to alignindividual capabilities with job requirements and business unit goals
  • Who You Are

  • You have 10 - 15 years of experience in the financial services industry with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in building and maintaining relationships with high net worth clients
  • Financial Planners Designation (Pl. Fin with IQFP for Quebec) (CFP with FP Canada all provinces excluding Quebec)
  • CPA, CA, CMA, LLB or other relevant designations would be an asset
  • Strong knowledge in the following area : tax, investment management, financial planning, law, trust, credit, commercial banking, international private banking, and private banking.
  • Excellent influential / interviewing / communication / relationship management skills with proven ability to build strong lifetime client relationships, identify and realize appropriate partnership and consolidation of opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability in analyzing sales and service results / trends and responding quickly and effectively to opportunities presented.
  • Strong confidence, customer service orientation and effective when interacting with wealthy clients and their advisors.
  • Strong organization and time management skills to effectively manage priorities and meet business / client requirements within tight deadlines / constraints.
