The Role and the Team :

The Manager will be a key member of the Project Financial Management team and shares in the accountability for ensuring the successful delivery of the team mandate.

The Manager actively supports the team in data analysis, research, training, reporting and facilitates in the management of project forecasts and budgets while managing and overseeing day to day operations.

This role will help in policy creation at the Enterprise level while also managing, delivering and facilitating meetings with key internal stakeholders, including Divisional Project Management Offices (DPMOs), Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO) as well as Executive Office (EO) Finance.


  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Creates an environment in which his / her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his / her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML / ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML / ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours;
  • communicating vison / values / business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

  • Provide assistance in ad-hoc requests as required
  • Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and review monthly financial project reports for anomalies with a key focus on budgeting and forecast analysis.
  • Gather data to produce consolidated reporting

  • Calculate and maintain reports, dashboards, KPIs and other metrics at the Enterprise level. This may include full reconciliations of project budgets and completing investigation of variances as required
  • Provide management and leadership teams with timely and accurate financial data and analysis as required to enable progress and performance measurement across the enterprise.
  • Support the team and Enterprise DPMOs in ensuring the integrity of the data within the departments project management databases
  • Policies & Governance

  • Support the project community in their understanding and compliance with enterprise wide governance requirements including the Enterprise Delivery Framework (EDF), Minimum Delivery Standards (MDS) and any other requirements as established by Project Controls, EPMO and EO Finance.
  • Assist in identifying governance, policy and framework changes as required to adapt to organizational needs. Recommend improvements to process for project reporting, policy enhancement, and overall governance of all projects both run the bank and change the bank.
  • Assist Audit, Executive Management and Finance with all inquiries, reporting and special projects.
  • Review, validate and setup all Projects in Smartstream in accordance with governance policies and frameworks. Projects can include, but are not limited to, OPs / Technology Projects, Contractor Pools, Asset Pools, Structural Cost Initiatives, Offshore Budgets, Fixed Capacity Spend, etc.
  • Process Management

  • Participate in the re-design of workflows to simplify and streamline processes and identify financial and user requirement
  • Participate and lead the building of cross-functional process maps of relevant processes, identify process owners, assess current state of process and prioritize improvement opportunities
  • Lead and manage process improvement initiatives, including :
  • Act in the capacity of project manager to oversee progress of initiate
  • Coordinate with development teams
  • Coordinate and design UAT tests
  • Change management and roll out of new functionalities
  • Create training documents
  • Play a key role in addressing all project related queries regarding contracts, procurement of assets, time tracking, access to modules / reporting / tools and providing recommendations on best practices.
  • Relationship Management

  • Aid / guidance Governance Teams and Delivery Managers regarding training, appropriate use of the forecast module and tools, while supporting the enterprise in best practices.
  • Provide assistance, guidance and technical knowledge for databases and monthly status reports on operations / production to the project teams or other users.
  • Provide primary support to Project Controls mailbox and address all escalations, work in conjunction with various finance teams and PMO’s to implement processes and address direction to urgent requests, and responsible for managing and updating documents, training guides and forms owned by Project Controls office.
  • Provide assistance in ad-hoc requests as required
  • Skills & Functional Competencies

  • Must possess excellent analytical, leadership and communication skills (written and oral) to converse effectively with line and corporate personnel and staff
  • Extensive experience with presentation / analytical tools
  • Strong business acumen, organizational skills and results orientation
  • Flexibility and adaptable to rapidly changing environment
  • Familiarity with GL systems and data; time tracking tools; project management tools along with Excellent knowledge of SmartStream and Project Accounting Methodology.
  • Business, Financial reporting, accounting and / or IT degrees preferred
