A Steward cleans and stores dishes, glassware, and silverware. A Steward also ensures that area around the dishwashers is clean and organized.

What will I be doing?

Specifically, you will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards :

  • Loads dish carts with dirty china, cutlery and glasses.
  • Unloads dish carts, sorts, pre-washes, stacks, loads and unloads dishwasher.
  • Delivers dishes, glassware and silverware to designated storage areas.
  • Operates dishwashing machine, feeds detergents, and cleans / maintains dishwashing machine.
  • Cleans and organizes equipment and work area.
  • Delivers dirty pots to stewarding.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the restaurant buffets by regularly complying with the buffet standards of plates & glassware set-ups and replacement.
  • Regularly wash heat trucks, heat boxes, wire trucks, room service tables, and other materials.
  • Cleaning of workstations before end of day.
  • Assists in cleaning of floors due to spillage or breakage.
  • Empties garbage and pick-up and fold boxes as and when required.
  • Help with Garbage disposal.
  • Controls the use of dishwashing chemicals and equipment.
  • Checks temperature controls during the use of dishwashing machine.
  • Notifies the Supervisor of damage to or problems with equipment.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by Management.
