As leader of the Alberta practice, the successful candidate will work closely with RSM Canada’s Ontario practice in continuing to build RSM Canada’s Corporate Recovery and Restructuring practice across Canada.
The successful candidate therefore needs to possess hands-on practice leadership and strong business development skills.
The successful candidate will have had significant experience in :
Assisting struggling companies across virtually all industries reposition their operations for continued viability and long-term success, by providing restructuring alternatives;
Assisting lenders in assessing the financial viability of their customers and providing strategic alternatives, as required;
Maintaining effective client communication with accurate and timely information;
Leading a variety of restructuring and recovery assignments, including business reviews, informal turnaround plans, CCAA restructurings, proposals or bankruptcy administrations under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, construction lien trustee assignments, liquidations, shareholder disputes, etc.;
Building a strong team by attracting, hiring, mentoring and coaching team members;
Preparing high-quality deliverables whether as reports, PowerPoint presentations, etc.;
Attending industry events, professional association meetings, etc.;
Managing referral relationships to ensure a steady and sustained pipeline of engagements.
Key Responsibilities :
Set the Tone at the Top to develop, recruit and mentor a strong team;
Build external and internal relationships to build the practice;
Overall practice management including setting budgets, reviewing results of the practice and focusing on the overall growth of the Restructuring and Recovery practice in Alberta;
Business development and building market eminence;
Collaborate with the Firm’s leadership to accelerate growth within the practice;
Lead in the execution of all engagements.
Experience & Qualifications :
A proven track record in commercial insolvency / restructuring;
Exceptionally strong leadership skills;
A current and proven track record in a corporate restructuring and recovery practice;
Knowledge of a wide variety of industries;
Strong experience with mid-sized and entrepreneurial businesses;
Strong contact network base along with relevant cross sales and practice management experience;
Track record in business development as it relates to a financial recovery / business restructuring / insolvency practice;
Evidence of thought leadership and contributions to best practices within the insolvency industry;
A minimum of 8 years of experience in various senior leadership roles in insolvency / bankruptcy and / or restructuring;
University degree, and CPA, CIRP and Licensed Insolvency Trustee designations;
Advanced computer skills;
Strong organization and time management skills;
A willingness to take on key responsibilities in a fast-paced intensive work environment;
Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
