Job Summary

Timely preparation of food in the kitchen following specific recipes set by the Chef / Supervisor. Appropriate presentation of food and maintaining the cleanliness of all areas of the kitchen.

Assist with Food preparation for banquets and a la carte food items.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow specific recipes set by Chef, Sous Chef, or Cook.
  • May assist in plating of food.
  • Preparation of events and a la carte menu.
  • Food Preparation, peel vegetables and fruit, and portioning.
  • Prepare basic food menu items.
  • Wash dishes and kitchen utensils. Polish cutlery / glasses.
  • Proper storage of goods received and rotating products to maintain freshness.
  • Monitor inventory and par stock levels - FIFO (First in First out).
  • Proper downsizing and labelling dates of all products to be reused.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned for cleaning.
  • Making sure that all food equipment is properly cleaned and all walk in cooler are kept clean and organized.
  • All floor areas are to be kept clean and all is garbage to be disposed of.
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned.
  • Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have strong food preparation, cooking and presentation skills
  • Previous work experience as a short order cook
  • A clear understanding of Health and Safety standards as they pertain to food
  • Ability to work on own initiative and work well in a team environment that is focused on customer service
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic and have good organizational & time management skills
  • Ability to work a variety of flex shifts; including evening, weekends and holidays; weekdays are an asset
  • Food Handlers Certificate is required
  • Smart Serve certificartion and cash handling is an asset
  • Emergency First Aid Certification / CPR B is required
  • Lifting of heavy objects and exposure to heat (burns) and sharp objects (knives)
  • Primarily kitchen environment
  • Hourly Rate / Salary : $14.75 - $16.40

    Hours of Work : up to 24 hours
