Major Responsibilities

Provides support to the Human Resources Department and assists in the development of policies / procedures and objectives that support the achievement of the organization's business goals.

  • Some of the duties of this position include the following : Maintain a positive employee relations environment, as Governed by Magna's Employee Charter, by providing guidance to employees and assisting with the resolution of employee concerns by utilizing available resources;
  • Provide direction and support to employees within the HR Department;Develop KPI's for the HR Department;Develop and monitor performance measurables for employees within the HR Department;
  • Assist with pay equity plans on an annual basis;Assist with annual compensation plan;Identify training requirements for employees;
  • Oversee the job opportunity process for internal and external recruitment opportunities;Provide performance management direction and support to Managers / Supervisors;
  • Develop HR policies / procedures;Participate in employee meetings to communicate information to employees.

    Knowledge and Education

    Human Resources Certificate or Business Administration required;CHRP / CHRL would be an asset.

    Work Experience

    previous HR related experience in some or all of the following areas : benefits administration, conflict resolution, policy development, employment laws, workers compensation, compensation, progressive discipline.

    Skills and Competencies

  • strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point;familiar with HRIS software;ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality;
  • strong organizational skills;self-starter with the ability to prioritize many different tasks;familiar with various employment laws and practices;
  • effective oral and written communication skills;excellent interpersonal skills;ability to gather and analyze information;
  • ability to work independently and also as part of a team;ability to work accurately, with attention to detailEnglish - reading & writingAbility to work with numbers with accuracyEffective trouble shooting for a variety of different situations / concerns effectively.

    Work Environment

  • normal amount of sitting and standing;ability to move around an office environment and on the production floor; ability to work at a computer workstation;
  • ability to bend, twist, lift, reach;ability to work flexible hours and overtime;ability to travel locally.
